What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It typically contains a short identifier that lets the site or a third-party service recognize the same browser across requests. Some cookies disappear when you close the browser (session cookies) and others persist for a set amount of time (persistent cookies). Other web technologies — local storage, web beacons, similar device identifiers — serve comparable purposes and are referred to here collectively as "cookies".
Categories of cookies used on this site
Strictly necessary
The site does not require any login or user-specific feature, so it does not set any first-party cookies that would be classified as strictly necessary. Pages and calculators function normally even with all cookies blocked.
Analytics
Google Analytics is used to understand traffic to the site — how many visitors a page receives, where they came from, and how they move between pages. The cookies in this category are set by Google when the analytics script loads and typically include identifiers such as _ga and _ga_*. Their lifetime depends on Google's defaults and can extend up to 24 months. The data is aggregated and is not linked to email addresses or individual identities by us.
Advertising
The site is supported by display advertising. Cookies in this category are set by ad networks — primarily Google AdSense and any partner networks active on a given page — to:
- Frequency-cap and rotate ads so the same ad does not appear too many times.
- Measure clicks and impressions for billing and reporting.
- Tailor ads based on prior visits to this site or other sites in the network, where personalized advertising is permitted under your local rules and your browser's preferences.
- Detect invalid traffic and ad fraud.
Examples of cookies and identifiers in this category include Google's NID, IDE, the legacy DoubleClick DART cookie, and identifiers set by the AdSense and Ad Manager scripts. Other advertising vendors active on a given page may set their own cookies under their respective domains.
How to manage and opt out
Browser controls
All major browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies. The relevant settings are usually under "Privacy" or "Site settings". You can choose to block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or block specific domains. Blocking cookies may reduce the relevance of ads but will not break the size guides or calculators.
Personalized advertising opt-outs
- Google: opt out of personalized ads through Google Ads Settings.
- Industry-wide opt-out (US): aboutads.info — the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool.
- Industry-wide opt-out (Network Advertising Initiative): optout.networkadvertising.org.
- Industry-wide opt-out (EU / UK): youronlinechoices.eu.
Google Analytics opt-out
To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which prevents the analytics script from sending data on any site you visit.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Where your browser or device emits a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we honor those signals to the extent supported by the analytics and advertising vendors used on this site.
Third-party cookies and links
The cookies described above are set by third parties and are governed by their own privacy and cookie policies. Following an external link from this site may also expose you to cookies set by the destination. We do not control those cookies.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the cookies in use change or when relevant rules evolve. Substantive changes will be reflected in the "Last reviewed" date at the top of this page. The current version always supersedes earlier ones.
