Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 9, 2026. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit TheSize.net, who collects it, why, and the choices and rights you have.
Summary
- TheSize.net is a static reference site. It has no accounts, logins, comments, forms or newsletter, and we do not ask you for your name, email address or payment details.
- We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how the site performs.
- The site is funded by advertising from third-party ad networks, such as Google AdSense and Mediavine, which use cookies and similar technologies to show and measure ads.
- Your browser stores your light or dark theme choice locally; it is never sent to us.
- You can refuse or withdraw consent, opt out of personalized advertising and exercise your data rights as described below.
Who is responsible
TheSize.net ("we", "us") is the controller of personal data processed through this website, except where a third party such as Google or another ad partner acts as an independent controller for its own purposes, as described below. Contact for all privacy matters: [email protected].
Information we collect and how
Information sent automatically by your browser
When you load a page, your browser sends standard technical information to our hosting and content delivery provider: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, requested page, referring page, and the date and time of the request. This is used to deliver the page, keep the service secure and diagnose errors. These server logs are kept for a short period by the provider and are not used to identify you.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-R8Z83G49GY), provided by Google LLC and, for users in the EEA and UK, Google Ireland Limited. It uses cookies and a JavaScript tag to collect:
- pages viewed, time on page, scrolling, outbound link clicks and site search terms;
- device type, browser, operating system, screen resolution and language;
- approximate location (country, region, city) derived from your IP address;
- how you arrived (search engine, link or direct visit);
- a random identifier stored in a cookie, used to distinguish visitors and sessions.
Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses. We do not send Google your name, email address or any other directly identifying information. Event-level data is kept for the retention period set in our Analytics account, at most 14 months; aggregated reports that do not identify individuals may be kept longer. Google describes its practices at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can block Google Analytics in any browser with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising
We display, or may display, ads from third-party ad networks including Google AdSense and Mediavine, and the advertising partners they work with. These companies may use cookies, web beacons, local storage and similar technologies to collect information such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, pages visited, ad interactions and approximate location, in order to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, detect fraud and, where permitted, personalize ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info (US), optout.networkadvertising.org and, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on your browsing on other sites. Ad partners act as independent controllers of the data they collect and process it under their own privacy policies, including Google's Privacy Policy and Mediavine's privacy policy.
Email you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address, name (if included) and the content of your message. We use it only to reply, to handle the correction or request, and to keep a record of what was changed. We do not add you to any mailing list.
Theme preference (local storage)
If you switch between light and dark mode, the site saves your choice in your browser's local storage under the key theme (value "light" or "dark"). It stays on your device until you clear site data and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. This site uses analytics cookies set by Google Analytics and advertising cookies set by our ad partners. It does not need any cookie to work: every page and tool functions with all cookies blocked. The full list, with purposes and durations, is in our cookie policy.
Where the law requires consent, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, non-essential cookies are set only after you agree through the consent banner, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the same consent tool or by clearing cookies in your browser.
Legal bases for processing (GDPR and UK GDPR)
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Delivering pages, security and error diagnosis | Server log data | Legitimate interests (operating a secure website), Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Audience measurement | Analytics cookies and usage data | Consent, Art. 6(1)(a), and the ePrivacy rules on cookies |
| Advertising, including personalized ads | Advertising cookies, device and usage data | Consent, Art. 6(1)(a) |
| Non-personalized ads and fraud prevention, where consent is not given | Limited device and request data | Legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f), as applied by our ad partners |
| Answering your email | Email address and message | Legitimate interests in responding, or steps you request, Art. 6(1)(b)/(f) |
| Meeting legal obligations | Records of privacy requests | Legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(c) |
Your rights in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that took place before. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). Email [email protected] to make a request; we respond within one month, which the law allows us to extend in limited cases. As we do not hold accounts, we may need information such as the Analytics cookie identifier to find data linked to your browser, and data held by Google or ad partners is often best accessed through their own tools.
Your rights in California and other US states
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and similar laws in states including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and Oregon, residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and to access it;
- Delete personal information we collected from them, subject to exceptions;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and of targeted advertising;
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Categories collected in the past 12 months: identifiers (IP address, cookie and device identifiers), internet or network activity (pages viewed, interactions with ads), and approximate geolocation. Sources: your browser and device. Purposes: operating the site, analytics and advertising. Recipients: our hosting provider, Google (analytics and advertising) and our advertising partners. We do not collect sensitive personal information, and we do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. We do not sell personal information for money. Allowing ad partners to collect identifiers through cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising may count as "selling" or "sharing" under California law. To opt out, email [email protected] with the subject "Do not sell or share", use the opt-out links in the advertising section above, or turn on the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser; where our advertising technology can read GPC, it is treated as an opt-out for that browser. Because opt-outs are stored in cookies, clearing cookies or using a different browser may require you to opt out again.
We respond to verifiable requests within 45 days, extendable once by a further 45 days where the law allows. You may use an authorized agent. We will not ask for more information than we need to verify the request.
Children's privacy
TheSize.net is a general-audience reference site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), or from children under 16 in the EEA and UK without parental consent. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
Data retention
- Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted.
- Google Analytics: event-level data up to 14 months; cookies expire after up to 2 years unless you delete them.
- Advertising cookies: set and expired by each ad partner; Google's advertising cookies typically last 13 months in the EEA, UK and Switzerland and up to 24 months elsewhere.
- Emails: kept as long as needed to handle your message and keep a record of corrections, and deleted on request unless we must keep them for a legal reason.
International data transfers
Our analytics and advertising providers, including Google, process data in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws may differ from yours. Where personal data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred, it is protected by the safeguards these providers use, such as certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and stores no user accounts or submitted data, which keeps the amount of personal data we hold to a minimum. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we limit access to the email inboxes and analytics account to the people who need it.
Links to other websites
Guides link to standards bodies, regulators and manufacturers. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.
Some pages include affiliate links to Amazon. TheSize.net is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you follow one of these links, Amazon may set cookies and collect data under its own privacy notice; we only see aggregated reports of clicks and qualifying purchases, never your identity or order details.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices or the law change, and revise the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how your data is used, we will make it clear on this page before it takes effect.

Email [email protected] for any question about this policy or your data. See also our cookie policy, terms of use and contact page.
