24-inch monitor dimensions: screen size
Monitors are sold by the diagonal of the visible screen. The table gives both the theoretical 24-inch screen and the 23.8-inch panel that most "24-inch" monitors actually use. The difference is about 0.2 in in width.

The 23.8-inch size is a panel-industry standard, and the monitor brands label it "24-inch class". The spec sheet line "viewable size: 23.8 in" or "60.5 cm" tells you which one you have. A few older or budget models use a 23.6-inch panel, which is 20.6 × 11.6 in.
Overall size of a 24-inch monitor on its stand
With thin bezels on three sides and a slightly deeper bottom bezel, the frame adds only a fraction of an inch. The Dell P2425H is a representative office model:
Weight is 10.2 lb (4.61 kg) with stand and 6.9 lb (3.12 kg) for the panel alone. Budget 24-inch models often have a tilt-only stand with a fixed height, so the screen cannot be raised; plan on a riser or an arm if you need it higher. At the usual 24 to 30 in (60 to 75 cm) viewing distance, a 1080p 24-inch screen is acceptable for office work but you can see the pixel grid on fine text. The 1440p version fixes that, and a 4K 24-inch looks as sharp as a high-end laptop screen. "Pixels blend beyond" is the distance at which a person with 20/20 vision stops resolving single pixels.
24-inch 16:10 monitors (1920 × 1200)
Some business monitors use a 16:10 panel at 1920 × 1200 (WUXGA), usually with a 24.1-inch diagonal. Its screen is 20.4 × 12.8 in (51.9 × 32.4 cm): about 0.3 in narrower than a 23.8-inch 16:9 screen but 1.1 in taller. The extra 120 rows of pixels show several more lines of a document or about five more spreadsheet rows. The total area is 261 sq in, 8% more than a 23.8-inch 16:9 screen.
24.5-inch gaming monitors
Esports monitors are often 24.5 inches (sold as "25-inch"), with a screen of 21.4 × 12.0 in (54.2 × 30.5 cm). They usually run at 1920 × 1080 with high refresh rates (240 Hz and above). The appeal is that the whole screen sits within the central field of view at a short distance; at 1080p the density is 90 PPI, slightly lower than a 23.8-inch 1080p panel.
Dual 24-inch monitor setup: width and desk size
Two 24-inch monitors are the most common multi-screen office layout. Using the P2425H's 21.2 in (53.9 cm) width per monitor:

In portrait orientation a 24-inch frame is about 12.4 in wide and 21.2 in tall, and its screen is 11.7 × 20.7 in. Two portrait 24-inch screens give a 2160 × 1920 workspace that suits reading long documents and code. The stand must pivot, or the panel must be on an arm high enough to clear the desk when rotated.
Compared with a single 34-inch ultrawide, two 24-inch 1080p screens are about 10 in wider in total but have 1.4 in less screen height and a bezel in the middle.

Desk space and viewing distance for a 24-inch monitor
- Distance: OSHA's workstation guidance gives 20 to 40 in (50 to 100 cm) from eyes to screen. A 24-inch monitor is comfortable at the near end, around 20 to 30 in (50 to 75 cm), so it suits shallow desks.

- Height: the top of the screen at or slightly below eye level. The P2425H's stand lifts the top edge as high as 19.5 in (49.7 cm) above the desk; measure your seated eye height above the desk surface to check that the range covers it.
- Mounting: 24-inch monitors use VESA 100 × 100 mm (a few budget models 75 × 75 mm). At 6 to 7 lb, any monitor arm carries them.
